The revitalization and redevelopment of the downtown of North St. Paul has been a goal of the City Council for many years. WSB first assisted the city with the 2018 Downtown Revitalization Plan, which provided public engagement and a framework to build upon streetscape and roadway improvements on 7th Avenue, North St. Paul’s hometown main street.
The mixed-use redevelopment brings new amenities to the downtown area with the establishment of The Sentinel Apartments and Mac’s Diner. Further improvements included over a mile of asphalt and concrete pavement roadway reconstruction, drinking water system infrastructure replacement, a new storm sewer system, ADA accessible walkways, open areas for pedestrian gathering, modern traffic signals, flexibility for future bike and pedestrian amenities, a conduit system for future fiber-optic communications, and EV charging stations.
Our staff worked closely with the city to help them realize their vision of a new updated downtown that respected the tradition and history of the area, while creating a path for the future.
