The Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Nation (MHA) contracted WSB in October 2019 to develop a new childcare facility to better serve tribal members with young families. The childcare facility is part of a larger community enhancement project to support the growing population in Parshall, North Dakota, which has nearly doubled in size in the last decade. The project complements an ongoing WSB development of the northeast segment of the Wildhorse subdivision.
WSB provided site design, land development, landscape architecture, and structural engineering services for the new, 6,000-square-foot facility. The new facility features floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor play area, and dedicated space for improved learning for MHA Nation youth. Daily childcare will enable more community members to participate in the workforce, bolstering the regional economy.
WSB worked closely with MHA Nation leaders to carry cultural thematic features throughout the project, including subtle tribal aesthetics and traditional values into both the facility and landscape design.
