To advance public safety, travel time reliability and enhance access to jobs and commerce, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) championed a new “Driving Forward Initiative.” As part of this initiative, the OTA partnered with EST as a primary service provider, who led on planning, design, and construction management services on several of the corridor improvements including the new Gilcrease Expressway in Tulsa.

At $260 million, the Gilcrease Expressway is the largest single transportation construction contract ever awarded in Oklahoma and was constructed utilizing an innovative Build-Finance format. The project provided for the construction of a five-mile, four-lane divided, controlled access highway, including four interchanges, 22 span bridges and three tolling facilities.

After opening this past year, the Gilcrease Expressway received recognition as a Gold Award Winner by the American Concrete Paving Association.
