The Highway 52 Zumbrota to Cannon Falls Design-Build Project, led by the Minnesota Department of Transportation, began in July 2021 and achieved substantial completion in November 2023. The goal of the $75 million project was to provide quality improvements and increase safety throughout the project corridor.
One focus was the improvement of pavement quality and ride. Additionally, through the construction of an interchange and the elimination of at-grade accesses, this project steadily continues the process of converting Hwy 52 to a fully-access-controlled freeway between I-90 and I-94. This provides a safer corridor for travelers, surrounding communities and better accommodations for travel of farming equipment to and from fields along the corridor.
WSB supported this project through the Alternate Delivery GEC contract and as the Owners Contract Administration Verification Team. Over the design and construction of the project, our team of experts provided quality management, contract administration, inspection, materials testing and plant inspection.
