The City of Caledonia, Minnesota identified the need to increase the resilience of their municipal drinking water system to provide adequate water supply to their town’s population of 3,000. To help meet the needs of the growing city, WSB was hired to provide professional engineering services for the design, bidding, and construction management of a new well.
Municipal Well No. 8 is located in the city park and constructed in the Wonewoc Sandstone formation, previously known as the Ironton and Galesville Sandstones. The 850 gallon-per-minute, 720-foot-deep well was completed in December 2020, providing citizens of Caledonia an additional water source. The City of Caledonia and WSB have continued their partnership and are now working on the design of the well house and associated piping.
