WSB partnered with the City of Saint Anthony Village to develop a successful application for the Minnesota Solar on Public Buildings (SPB) grant program. This program, administered by the Department of Commerce, aims to promote solar energy systems on public buildings, paying up to 70% of the total project costs.
Our in-house technical energy experts and strategic sustainability advisors coordinated with the City to select appropriate sites for the program, align work with initiatives from their Climate Plan, anticipate and address interconnection and other logistical challenges, and develop an RFP to select a proposal for the project.
The City was awarded nearly $130,000 in grant funding which will cover 60% of the cost to install two 40 kW rooftop solar arrays on City buildings. The City plans to use elective pay of federal tax credits to offset an additional 30% cost of the site installation.
This program provides a game-changing opportunity for Minnesota cities in Xcel Energy territory to advance renewable energy for positive economic and environmental outcomes. WSB is currently assisting two additional City clients as they apply for funding in the second round of this grant program.
